Concrete
is green: It’s produced locally and can be made with reclaimed
materials and recycled. It reduces temperature swings inside and stays
cooler outside. With proper care, concrete driveways and homes can last
for decades.

rain garden is a landscape feature that gathers, filters and holds
stormwater allowing it to be absorbed by soil rather than
running away from the area. Source: www.squidoo.com

Welcome to our Web site. Let’s go green together! The
choices you make about your construction projects and how you handle
the materials can have a profound impact on the environment. ARM members
know a lot about this. The
concrete mix that sits in rain puddles or that you hose off the
driveway joins the fertilizers, motor oil, car detergents, pet waste and
stormwater running off your roof and driveway. It all flows into our sewer systems. Today, we all pay a high price for
cleaning this water. You may have noticed an added stormwater fee on your latest water bill. So,
before you begin your project, consider how you’ll store, clean and
discard the materials you use. You'll find some helpful resources on
this page. Also, check out the ARM blog for
the latest news on concrete-related research, projects and
sustainability. Finally, please check out our Library and other Web
pages for more information about member products and the environment. ARM
members are highly trained and skilled at working with concrete in
compliance with federal and state regulations. Please use our member
directory to seek advice about how your construction project can be a
sustainable one. |
