Great River Regional Library

Great River Regional LibraryThe new Great River Regional Library is located in the City of St Cloud overlooking the Lake George area. This building was constructed using cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete decks with a lightweight topping for the floors. This concrete framed building has a stone clad exterior. The building is 118,000 square feet and incorporates many green/sustainable products and concepts including a “green” roof.

In addition to the green roof, the project also has storm water retention cells under the paved surface, a bio-retention island for site water runoff, high efficiency lighting, locally sourced materials which included the ready mix concrete and aggregates. “Daylighting” the interior is a design concept that was also used in this project and is achieved easily when using cast-in-place structural concrete building members which allow engineers to design using longer and higher spans allowing more window area to let natural light into the building.

Owner: Great River Regional Library
Architect: Grooters, Leopoldt Tideman Architects
