Great River Regional Library

The new Great River Regional Library is located in the City of St Cloud overlooking the Lake George area. This building was constructed using cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete decks with a lightweight topping for the floors. This concrete framed building has a stone clad exterior. The building is 118,000 square feet and incorporates many green/sustainable products and concepts including a “green” roof.

In addition to the green roof, the project also has storm water retention cells under the paved surface, a bio-retention island for site water runoff, high efficiency lighting, locally sourced materials which included the ready mix concrete and aggregates. “Daylighting” the interior is a design concept that was also used in this project and is achieved easily when using cast-in-place structural concrete building members which allow engineers to design using longer and higher spans allowing more window area to let natural light into the building.
