Pavements

Whether constructing a parking lot, path, driveway or highway, concrete paving offers many advantages over blacktop.

In particular, concrete pavements deliver:

  • Much lower lifecycle cost, thanks, in part, to easier maintenance (no resealing, resurfacing, bumps and other common hassles of blacktop).
  • Clean, smooth surfaces that never get tacky and resist deformation from maneuvering vehicles/traffic.
  • Good drainage, even on flatter slopes.
  • Jointing patterns that can incorporate traffic lane and parking stall markings.

Concrete can handle a lot of weight. It spreads imposed-loads over large areas of the sub-grade, thanks to its reasonably high stiffness.

It provides an all-weather surface that protects the soil underneath, while increasing the surface’s ability to carry traffic.

Concrete parking lots range in size from very small (such as at convenience stores and apartment buildings) to very large (such as at shopping centers or truck terminals).

Depending on size, parking lot projects may require a range of construction equipment, from hand tools to highway paving equipment.
